From Nip/Tuck and Glee to American Horror/Crime Story and Pose , Murphy is no stranger to making memorable and award-winning shows. His trademarks of a dark yet comedic tone, a cast of complex and layered characters, and a slick style that transcends genres are immediately recognizable from the first moments his shows begin. And yet, with all that clearly in mind, I have to admit I’ve struggled to complete many of Murphy’s shows. I’ve had no problems starting them, but after four to five episodes, I start to lose the drive to keep watching. Whether it’s a run around the neighborhood or high-intensity interval training in my room, I’ve been trying my best to exercise throughout the week. Wells’s classic horror story The Invisible Man was recently released for rental so that, despite theaters closing around the world, cinephiles like myself could enjoy this film in the comfort of their own homes. So thanks to that, I’m writing another Review Rewind for you! I am once again not familiar with the source material of the book or the previous film adaptations of this classic story, but that did not prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this film. I’m a big fan of horror/thriller films that mess with your head and build up tension without the need for monsters or jump scares; when you’re left to imagine what is out there, that’s when you can truly terrify yourself. This movie does a phenomenal job of that from the start, lingering on these long, quiet shots that make the viewer feel nervous and afraid, even if there is nothing there (that we can see at least). Since I’ve had more time on my hands lately, I’ve been able to catch up on shows that have been on my list for a while. Although its not quite the apocalypse, matters regarding the current Covid-19 virus have shut down principal photography for the post apocalyptic retelling of Robin Hood in SkySoft's upcoming, Sherwood until April in an abundance of caution. Despite the recent announcement, production has been on hold since March 8th. This also delays production for the upcoming, Mutant 5 . The limited series has seen a surge of popularity due to current events around the globe. As of right now, both series are still on schedule to premiere on their respective due dates.
