5 Best SkySoft Hair Ideas

by Nia Johnson

Whether you are scoping out the best cuts and trends for men or women or are curious to see the most popular SkySoft hairstyles, you've come to the right place. Now that barbershops and salons are reopening in some parts of the country, I can understand if you're itching for something new after spending months inside. If you’re staying home instead, we have provided a “Do It Yourself (DIY)” difficulty scale so you can better prepare for your next challenge in lockdown. I have also included product recommendations to replicate each of the styles (PLEASE NOTE: Some of these products may not be right for your hair. Please do your research before making any purchases).

1.) Ricky Garcia: Slicked Back Undercut

When it comes to hairstyles, the undercut is undoubtedly one of the best and one of the oldest. It was very fashionable between the 1910s and the 1940s. Why has this cut stood the test of time? First, it’s youthful and versatile, meaning that it can work incredibly well for curly, straight, or wavy hair types. Second, you can interpret it in many ways. Because of this, it’s easy to find the right option for your style needs. As you can see from the photos above, no one can quite rock the undercut the way 365’s Ricky Garcia can.

DIY Difficulty: 4/5

The trick to pulling off the slick back undercut is to ensure your hair is long enough to style backward. The key to making sure it looks polished is to use a quality hair product to tame the longer proportions up top. For a more modern take on this cut, opt for a matte hair product to keep things relatively textured. If you want to try the old-school look instead, a hair gel product will ensure the cut looks more structured while maintaining a relaxed reference to the past.

Giving yourself the Ricky Garcia look will take some trial and error since a lot of fading is required to accomplish this specific look and maintain it, so try to get comfortable shaving your head with mirrors around you. You’ll also need to grow your hair out long enough to get this specific look, which requires time, but based on the duration of the quarantine so far, you may have already reached that ideal length!

2.) Jade Vourkari: The High Ponytail

The high ponytail is a look that has also made a comeback thanks to celebrities like the Kardashians and Ariana Grande, but the girl to bring it to Gan Adan was none other than Daisy Peterson. The look is not only trendy but also badass; you can wear it out on girl’s night or go to war with it! The trick to pulling this off is long, silky hair. Unfortunately, some of us are not gifted like Jade Vourkari with gorgeous lengthy locks but still want to steal the look. The secret? Hair extensions. Although Vourkari does have naturally long, beautiful hair, she also needed extensions to help her get the look. Be sure to buy extensions that match your hair color to make it look seamless.

Keep in mind that the character, Daisy Peterson, blended the modern Trobathian trend with classic Ganadan culture by braiding it. You don’t necessarily have to do that if you don’t want to but it is worth pointing out how versatile this look can be.

DIY Difficulty: 1/5

Whether you’re using your real hair or extensions, the look is relatively easy to steal but will require some time and effort. Be prepared to spend an hour trying to smooth the bumps to get the look perfect. You won’t need to go to the gym after this intense arm workout!

3.)  Monroe Hayden: Legendary Locks

Monroe Hayden is known for, among many other things, her incredible hair. And while no one can pull off this look quite like her, it’s still totally possible to try for yourself, whether you’re a man or a woman!

DIY Difficulty: 2/5

Achieving this look isn’t hard to do, but maintaining it would have to become a part of your routine, which is why it gets a 2 out of 5. To accomplish this look, you’ll have to let your hair grow out. No, you don’t necessarily have to let it grow as long as Hayden’s, but you will need some length. The trick to her hair is keeping it healthy, so regular trims will be necessary along with irregular washes. Washing your hair every day, or even every other day, can damage your hair due to all the chemicals often found in shampoo. Washing your hair once a week and rinsing it every day (while conditioning it every other day) is considered by many to be a healthy routine of upkeep - especially for Hayden’s hair type: thick and tousled. Another thing: don’t ever blow dry it! Let it air dry to avoid damaging your gorgeous locks and to keep your natural curls/waves from getting frizzy or appearing too dry. If you absolutely need to use a hairdryer, be sure to also use a diffuser.

I should also note that Hayden has a mini-undercut where her sides and back are buzzed off. It’s not the entire side but rather her side-burns and part of the back of her head. This is most likely due to her wanting an edgy style that isn’t too drastic so she can still fulfill film requirements. If you go this route, you’ll also need to maintain your sides and back once a week.

4.) Sheana Turner and Monroe Hayden: The Ombré

For women, the ombré is nothing new, but men are starting to catch on thanks to stars like Jared Leto and Jason Momoa. The cool thing is it can be worn several ways and works for any hairstyle (straight, curly, or wavy), as proven by my favorite dance team, Sheana Turner and Monroe Hayden as Deja and Fox.

According to Wikipedia, ombré as a hair-coloring technique is believed to have been popularised in 2000 when Britney Spears had her hair dyed in a subtle gradual fade from black at the roots to lighter towards the hair tips. It also was popularized in 2001 when Aaliyah dyed her hair ombré. So as you can see, this hairstyle has also been around for quite some time!

Depending on how you decide to wear it, the look can be seen as gradual and classic (like the way Turner wore her hair) or can be viewed more as surfer-like.

DIY Difficulty: 5/5

The hardest thing about doing this yourself would be getting the right colors and knowing just how to apply it and when to wash it out. This technique would preferably require a professional to come in and do it, but there are men and women out there who have done it at home before, so I’ve found some relatively safe, over-the-counter applications for you to try. Keep in mind that it will require bleaching, so you’ll need to maintain your hair to avoid it from drying out and feeling like straw.

The following products are also for natural hair that can take bleach. You can also achieve this look by using extensions. This way would be healthier for your hair but still would require maintenance.

5.) Kealoha Nakamura: The Bro Flow

For men looking to sweep admirers off their feet, the windswept, charming “bro flow” sported by Joshua Gareth is guaranteed to win over hearts. This easy-to-maintain, effortlessly cool hairstyle is perfect for medium length hair. If you’re in that “awkward stage” between long and short hair, the bro flow will ensure you are looking your best like Kealoha Nakamura.

DIY Difficulty: 2/5

Like the Monroe Hayden look, this is not hard to achieve but will require more upkeep and maintenance. All you have to do is grow your hair out, but that can have its struggles since your hair will get in your face and bother you from time to time. Keeping your hair healthy with regular trims will separate you from the other guys who may look more unkempt. You’ll also have to condition it regularly, avoid washing it too often and let it air dry.

Racism and White Privilege: America's Most Enduring and Lethal Disease

by Daniel Andrade Courtesy of the Library of Congress For over 400 years, since before the United States gained its independence, this country has suffered from a toxic disease that it has never been able to cure itself of. It may not be the same type of poison that it started off as, but it has evolved and persisted and continues to be just as dangerous today. America has a problem, and that problem is racism and the white privilege that has allowed this racism to persist as long as it has. What has made this problem much more glaring recently is the tragic death of George Floyd under the knee of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin.  While there have unfortunately been too many similar incidents involving police officers or other white men either brutally attacking or killing black men, many of which have also been recorded on camera, this incident was particularly grievous. Many are familiar with the appalling stories of Trayvon Martin , Tamir Rice , Philando ...

The Mythology of Mayari

Courtesy of SkySoft Entertainment by Daniel Andrade With the recent announcement of SkySoft’s first feature film being developed, many were excited about the potential for Mayari . But did you know that Mayari is named after an actual goddess from Filipino mythology? While many of us may be familiar with the mythology of ancient Egypt (like Anubis), ancient Greece (Zeus and Athena, for example), and even Norse mythology (thanks to fan-favorite Avenger Thor and his father Odin), the deities of the Philippines are not as well known. With that in mind, I thought it would be a great idea to do a crash-course in these fascinating gods and goddesses to prepare us for what to expect in Mayari . Before moving on, it’s important to note one thing. Due to the nature of folklore, it’s not uncommon for these stories to have slight alterations or distinctions depending on the region where they are coming from. And even within one region itself, there are still sometimes variations withi...
