SkySoft Premium Explained!

Yesterday, SkySoft introduced SkySoft Premium on their site. This was big news for several reasons. SkySoft has released a lot of free content featuring mostly upcoming talent, relying on Monroe Hayden to bring in as many viewers as possible. It was pretty clear that with Hayden’s upcoming departure from SkySoft shows, the company would need more options to bring in more revenue.

Beast will be the first real blockbuster to be routed to premium video-on-demand. It’s an economic gamble, but also an acknowledgment of the reality of what will be left of the marketplace after COVID-19, which could be an unprecedented time. It could also be the way of the future; with so many streaming services piling up in bills, buying an exclusive show or film may be a better and affordable option for some people, rather than committing monthly to a service. Now, the hope is that Beast can do for SkySoft Premium what Fox did for three years for SkySoft Stream. But given the nature of SkySoft’s new plan, it’s also left fans confused over what exactly Premium is.

So in an effort to smooth over any lingering questions, here’s what you need to know about SkySoft Premium and how you’ll be able to watch Beast when it arrives in the near future.

What Is SkySoft Premium?

Premium is like Vudu. It's a virtual video retail store where you can buy episodes and films released exclusively by SkySoft that you won’t be able to buy anywhere else. You don’t need a membership, there are no ads, and you get to own the episode, season, or film instantly!

The content available for purchase will meet high-quality standards while also showcasing well-known talent to help bring in more viewers to the site and ultimately to SkySoft Stream.

So then what is SkySoft Stream?

Stream is the free version of SkySoft that features more unknown and unrepresented talent who are trying to get noticed. Because of SkySoft Stream’s connection with the Dreamers of Tomorrow program, asking viewers to pay for SkySoft Stream content doesn’t exactly market well, no matter how hard and how relentlessly Hayden has tried to sell the idea to help fund Stream content in the past. This was made crystal clear after 365: Season 2. In fact, the flop forced the company to seek other routes of funding. Enter SkySoft Premium.

Stream content is free to view and, starting on September 1st, is available all year long!

How long can I watch SkySoft Premium content?

Premium is not a rental service, so once you purchase the episode, season, or film, you own it. You get to download it and watch it whenever you like and however many times you like!

Will SkySoft Premium content be moved to SkySoft Stream?

No. SkySoft Premium content is exclusively for purchase and will not be available on SkySoft Stream.

When will I be able to watch Beast?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production is delayed, so SkySoft Premium won’t come into effect until after it is complete. The company is still hoping for a 2022 release, but since we’re dealing with so many unknowns, it is very likely that it may be pushed to 2023.

Who is in Beast?

Bryon Allen, who left a favorable impression on viewers as Sylvan of Viscardia in Fox, is set to lead the show as Beast/Abubakri for seven episodes. Daniel Andrade, who you may recognize as Prince Orasmin from Fox, is also starring in the series. The show was written by Monroe Hayden, who will also be directing and starring as Bella for three episodes.

Will there be more content on SkySoft Premium?

Yes! Beast is just the first greenlit production to be released on that platform. More titles are expected to be added to the retail store in the near future and will hopefully feature SkySoft Stream graduates.

Fox: Season IV (Special Edition) now available

Fox ’s Special Edition is the director’s cut of the 2019 American fantasy series Fox: Season IV . It presents the final season as director Monroe Hayden had intended it before interference with investors. Hayden oversaw the original versions of Fox ’s Seasons 3 and 4’s in accordance with a mandate from the show’s investors with a more traditional score, abandoning Season 2’s musical platform that featured original compositions from four composers, including Hayden.  The switch was not taken lightly, but she proceeded anyway. However, in the event of 365: Season 2’s flop, investors pressured her to take the season down within 24 hours. Less than a year later, she re-released the season on the site only to receive backlash from fans, as well as the same investors. The decision to take it down for good inspired her to buy the investors out with interest. By January 2021, she had bought them out, in full, and now has complete control, particularly with the Fox franchise. Although i...

SkyWire Awards 2019

Courtesy of SkySoft The end of the year is fast approaching, which means it’s time for SkySoft’s 2nd Annual SkyWire Awards, an opportunity to look back at the past year of SkySoft and acknowledge the hard work, talent, and dedication of our cast and crew. Before we get into the nominees, there is another important announcement in regards to the voting procedures. This year, because Season 2 of 365 was entered into the vault early, voting is closed off to the public, which means the fan award segment will also not be featured. Additionally, moving forward there will no longer be a fan award segment, and all winners will be chosen by an unbiased third party, just like a majority of the winners were decided last year. For a reminder of the rules and categories (how and why nominees are selected, how and why winners are chosen, and more information), please consult our earlier post explaining the SkyWire awards here: https://skysoftentertainment.blogspot.com/2018/12...
