SkyWire Awards is any number of awards presented annually by SkySoft Entertainment, to recognize achievement in SkySoft film/series. The awards was first presented on December 1st, 2018 at 6pm on SkySoft's podcast series, Beyond the Page with Daniel Andrade.

Rules and Categories
Winners are chosen from any of the following categories: Best Ensemble, Best Guest Star Performance, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Episode, Best Series and Best Director. The categories are sure to extend and change as SkySoft's shows also evolve.

To be eligible for an award in any given year, the film/series must be initially publicly viewed for at least a month (with the exception of 365: Season 2) on SkySoft between December 2nd and midnight December 1st (ex: December 2, 2017 - December 1, 2018.) Only members of SkySoft's management, who are not in films that year, are allowed to nominate the candidates. The winner is selected in by a panel of five (5) filmmakers and/or actors unrelated to SkySoft. The first year accumulated public votes. Every year the panel will change to ensure fair outcomes. Due to the odd number of panel members, ties will not happen.

When an actor/actress wins, they are not allowed to be nominated the following year for the same category regardless of how well their performance is. This is done to provide further recognition of other actors. Each award ceremony must be hosted by at least one (1) host with maximum of two (2). The host(s) are required to provide a speech to open or close with. In the event of two hosts, the two will divide the work load in half; one will open and one will close. They will introduce each category by reading a scripted segment of which they are responsible for writing. The host(s) are also required to prepare speeches that acknowledge the winners. In order to do this, the host(s) must prepare a speech for each nominee and be ready to present the right speech for the winner in the event of their announcement.

The names of the winners are sealed in an envelope and sent from SkySoft's offices in New York. Hosts are not allowed to open envelopes until the official announcement of the winner or risk paying a fee. In the event the envelopes are lost, a backup plan is provided using a third party individual who is given the names via email or phone and must provide the names to the host(s) before the announcement as the ceremony commences.

Winning an award helps recognize the talent and also results in increased media attention and better film offers. It also could increase viewership for certain shows.

History
The first celebration of the SkyWire Awards was held on December 1st, 2018 with Beyond the Page host, Daniel Andrade and SkySoft CEO, Monroe Hayden hosting the event. The first segment featured the hosts announcing the Fan Favorite's to acknowledge the popular vote of the fans. However, to inspire more positive encouragement among our team member's, SkySoft erased the Fan Favorite portion of their show. This portion was done simply and straight forward. The second segment was of a much grander scale with each host assigned to either open or close the ceremony with a speech. Both hosts introduce and announce the nominees for Best Ensemble together. After this, each host took turns introducing and announcing the winners for the following categories.
This year, Daniel Andrade returns to host but this time was partnered with Bryon Allen to help with the work load. The show is scheduled to take only 30 minutes with an Aftershow provided with the same time duration, where both hosts discuss the winners and SkySoft's achievements that year. The Best Ensemble category was left out this season and replaced with Best Director, Best Series and Best Episode.

This year's (2018) nominees are:

Best Ensemble: 365, Fox

Best Guest Star Performance: Allyson Moyer (365), Angel New(365) and Jacob Maciel (Fox)

Best Supporting Actress: Janelle Garcia (Fox) and Jorgie Mason (Fox)

Best Supporting Actor: Terrell Cooper (365) and Steven Acedo (Fox)

Best Actor: Ricky Garcia (365) and Hunter Tabiendo (Fox)

Best Actress: Monroe Hayden (Fox) and Jade Vourkari (Fox)

Racism and White Privilege: America's Most Enduring and Lethal Disease

by Daniel Andrade Courtesy of the Library of Congress For over 400 years, since before the United States gained its independence, this country has suffered from a toxic disease that it has never been able to cure itself of. It may not be the same type of poison that it started off as, but it has evolved and persisted and continues to be just as dangerous today. America has a problem, and that problem is racism and the white privilege that has allowed this racism to persist as long as it has. What has made this problem much more glaring recently is the tragic death of George Floyd under the knee of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin.  While there have unfortunately been too many similar incidents involving police officers or other white men either brutally attacking or killing black men, many of which have also been recorded on camera, this incident was particularly grievous. Many are familiar with the appalling stories of Trayvon Martin , Tamir Rice , Philando ...

The Mythology of Mayari

Courtesy of SkySoft Entertainment by Daniel Andrade With the recent announcement of SkySoft’s first feature film being developed, many were excited about the potential for Mayari . But did you know that Mayari is named after an actual goddess from Filipino mythology? While many of us may be familiar with the mythology of ancient Egypt (like Anubis), ancient Greece (Zeus and Athena, for example), and even Norse mythology (thanks to fan-favorite Avenger Thor and his father Odin), the deities of the Philippines are not as well known. With that in mind, I thought it would be a great idea to do a crash-course in these fascinating gods and goddesses to prepare us for what to expect in Mayari . Before moving on, it’s important to note one thing. Due to the nature of folklore, it’s not uncommon for these stories to have slight alterations or distinctions depending on the region where they are coming from. And even within one region itself, there are still sometimes variations withi...
